Modestly Adorned Monday – 4th of July

My family and I visited the Tennessee Aquarium on the 4th of July this year.  It was a very rainy and fun day!  We of course dressed in red, white, and blue.  My mother and mother-in-law came along with us.  We had quite the crew! caabfamily4 Yes, it was very rainy, dreary, and foggy.  My hair sure wasn’t cooperating!  Anyhow, I wanted to share my girl’s clothing choices for the day.  I took the following photos in the Butterfly Garden area of Ocean Journey.  The Tennessee Aquarium is a great place to visit as a family.

An outfit I made for her last year.

I ran out of time, and didn’t make her a 4th of July outfit this year.

Oops.

The skirt still hit her knees so we went with it!

My youngest daughter wore:

Patriotic Flag Dress- Kohl’s Clearance Section.  I picked this up last summer.

White Undershirt- Carters

I don’t believe that a single piece of clothing pictured was over $10.  Several of the pieces of clothing were under $5.  Yay!

In closing, I would love to share a few 4th of July posts with you!  Born Again on the Fourth of July from John Piper’s Desiring God blog is a must read.  We need to remember that “in Jesus, we have one final allegiance, and thus in this world we will always be, in some real sense, pilgrims, strangers and aliens, sojourners and exiles (1 Peter 2:11).”

Secondly, this is a wonderful post from Graced Simplicity titled, true freedom = knowing Jesus Christ!

How did you celebrate the 4th of July?

Be blessed!

  1. Dear Nicole,

I wrote you about two weeks ago and told you how much your blog inspired me and with God’s help was placing the thought on my heart to begin my own blog.

I have just started that blog. I would so love it if you could come visit my blog when you have time.

    God’s Peace!

Hello Sue! Your blog is beautiful. May it reach many and change lives. Blessings to you!

  2. Very nice. I only have one daughter (4boys) so far and is nice to see how other families help their daughters in the area of modesty. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Your girls look lovely, and patriotic! My girls enjoy seeing what other skirt-wearing girls their age are wearing. Thank you for posting photos. It inspires us.

  4. Love this! It’s so nice when girls can look nice and feel great and still be modest, at any age. Thanks and your girls are so cute!

  5. I love how modest AND modern your girls look! Sometimes it’s hard to balance modest with being normal…if normal something you want to be anyway…you know what I mean 🙂

Thanks for linking up at Babies and Beyond. I love the message of your blog, and I’m so glad you are sharing with us. I really want more people to find these posts and be encouraged!
