Modestly Adorned Monday – Denim and Black

On my daughter’s fourteenth birthday last week, I took her to Ross to pick out a few new things.  She picked out a new dress ($13.99) and a new shirt ($10.99) that were essentially identical, but one was a dress and the other a shirt.  (As you girls know, if you find a pattern that you really like, having both a shirt and dress to wear is wonderful.)   While she was there I picked up a few new maternity shirts, one of which I’m sharing today.   I hope that these posts are an encouragement that dressing modestly can be done, but at the same time they are so awkward.  I will probably enlist one of my daughters next time, ha!

What I’m Wearing:

Black Short-sleeved Shirt with Neck Detailing – $5.99 (Ross)

Long Denim Maternity Skirt (Motherhood brand) – $5.99 (Kid 2 Kid)

Black Undershirt – $5 (Wal-Mart)

Black Sequined Sandals – $10 (JC Penney)

Aqua Shell Bracelet – $6 (A gift shop on Hilton Head Island)

Shell Monogram Black Cord Necklace – $20 (Craft Show)

I really like the detailing at the top of this shirt!

When I found this long denim maternity skirt at Kid 2 Kid for only $5.99 I seriously almost cried I was so thankful.  I had been looking for one that wasn’t in the $50 range for quite some time.

In other news, Mother’s Day is less than one week away!  If you are in need of some craft ideas for your little one (for a grandma, and yes, even as a keepsake for yourself) I compiled a list of fun things to make on Pinterest.  You can view them here:

Also, a few months ago I shared about how I have been a crafter for several years, but was rethinking some of the items that I made.  I was making some fairly outrageous tutu sets (which was a lot of fun!) but I felt in my heart that I needed to tone it down some.  I’m in the middle of a transition, and have changed the name of my etsy shop to Joyfully Made.  I’m now making hair accessories, wall décor for girls, and a bit of décor for homes.  I have some leftovers from my previous endeavor listed in the Clearance section of my shop.  Right now through everything is 10% off with the coupon code: MOMSDAY through Mother’s Day!

*¨¨*:•..•:*¨¨*:•. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious JOY, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9 *¨¨*:•..•:*¨¨*:•.

Also, Approximately 10% of the profits received through the sale of these items goes to purchase baby supplies for my local crisis pregnancy center. This center is a pro-life, Christ-based organization, and such a good cause. Thank you so much for helping purchase diapers, wipes, and other goods for these precious babies.

  1. Cute outfit! I will check out your etsy too. I would like to know where you got the flip flops! Those are so cute.

Thanks Trisha, I was so excited when I found it! I had looked during my entire pregnancy almost 2 years ago and never found a long denim skirt for a reasonable price.

  3. you look very beautiful Nicole! Thanks for sharing your modest maternity wear. I just found out I am pregnant with my sixth (EDD Jan 15, 2015). Well, I guess Yahweh changed my husband’s mind or made him forget is all I can say and did so in a fast manner:) I will wait to tell family and friends but just wanted to share this great blessing that Yahweh made 🙂
