Modest Momma – Casual Gray

interestedskirts2

Today I am going to share another utterly simple outfit.  I pretty much live in denim skirts, since they are so durable.  As a homeschool momma of seven, durability is a must in my clothing!  I plan on going through my mess of a closet soon to see what else I can put together.

While quite honestly, I feel silly posting outfit updates, I do so to share the fact that modesty does matter!  As ambassadors for Christ, our goal as Christian women should be to draw attention away from our body parts so that all attention is focused on Christ, which should be exhibited by our humble, gentle spirits and good works.  Do I fail in this area?  Um, yep!  But we need to keep pressing on towards our upward calling.

What I Wore:

Damask Gray Top – Walmart

Denim Skirt – Cato

X-Small Hair Clip – Lilla Rose

Shoes – Converse, bought at Academy Sports

I mentioned to my sweet husband that I would really like to purchase a pair of converse to wear with my denim skirts last week.  He happily followed me around stores for an hour, digging through mounds of shoes to help me find what I had in mind.  He is such a sweetheart!

If you would like to learn more about modesty, feel free to visit this page: http://childrenareablessing.org/modesty/ While there you will find three short YouTube videos that I’ve made concerning this topic. (Believe me, I know I’m not the greatest speaker.  I just felt lead to share my heart. 😊)

Also, I wanted to take a minute to share an absolutely free Give Thanks Printable Pack with you!

Inside, you will find coloring sheets, copy work pages, thankfulness logs, and “I’m Thankful For” leaves and pumpkins to cut out and color.  The sheets are centered on five key scripture verses about thankfulness, and I hope that these activities will help hide God’s Word in your little one’s hearts.  All of this is absolutely free, and I pray that this printable pack will be a blessing to your family.  I would truly appreciate if you would subscribe to the blog on the upper right sidebar in return (…also, subscribers receive a free Bible Memory Verse Printable Set for children!), but it is not at all necessary.

Have a great week!

  1. Thank you for all you have been sharing about modesty, skirts, etc. I love it!! And I love your denim skirt – cute, practical, durable. As you say, durability is a watchword for a homeschool mama of a large family! I am drifting that way myself (that is, toward denim skirts).

I only know one other skirt-wearing mama in real life, so it’s really refreshing to get to read your blog and hear all the encouragement toward modesty. It just isn’t seen much in the mainstream church, or even coming from the pulpit.

    Thanks for all you do!!

Thanks Diana, I was involved in a church where the pastor tried to silence my sharing on this blog and I’m finding my voice again. Thank you for the encouragement! 😊

  2. Not all pastors (and priests, in my case as a Catholic) are equal or as good at their jobs. An old nun used to tell me that I would do well to remember they are human, too. 🙂 “He is but a man,” she commented.

I love the gray pullover. Modest dress isn’t as important to me, but it is something I try to do in certain situations, like school Mass, so it’s great to see ideas.

  3. Hi there! I’m visiting from The Art of Home-Making Mondays. I totally agree with your modesty view – It Really Matters! I enjoyed your post, and your outfit is adorable, especially the shoes. Sadly our Cato stores have stopped carrying denim skirts. I need to sew….
    Have a wonderfully modest week!

  4. LOVE this comfy and cute outfit !!! I am on the look out for a few denim skirts for my daughters and I . They are so versatile and can be dressed up or down so much easier than most fabrics.
Thanks for joining us at Wearing with Wisdom on King Maker blog . Wonderful to meet new friends like you ! Hope you will join us again next week 🙂

  6. I love Cato skirts! My girls and I have found several cute ones there the past few years. And I love your Converse! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing at Artful Homemaking!
