SchoolhouseTeachers.com Yearly Membership Review

I was so excited to use, and now be reviewing, the Yearly Membership from SchoolhouseTeachers.com over the past few weeks!  Honestly, I was possibly just a tad overwhelmed by this review, since the Yearly Membership on the SchoolhouseTeachers.com site includes an abundance of resources!  Seriously, SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers almost 200 classes to choose from!  I wasn’t sure how to pick only a few things to use with my children for this review.
SchoolhouseTeachers Review 2016
One of my children’s favorite resources within SchoolhouseTeachers.com is the media available through their partnership with Right Now Media.  (There are 10,000+ streamed videos to choose from!) The Torchlighters Series is top notch, and my elementary-aged girl thoroughly enjoyed learning about Amy Carmichael and Corrie Ten Boom…and I literally almost cried while watching the Amy Carmichael story.  I believe instilling a heart for missions in our children at a young age is so important!   Another perk is that I was able to download the Right Now Media app on my iPhone, and now I can easily access The Old Schoolhouse content when we are on the go.  There are so many media resources available through this program!

My three-year-old enjoyed watching several “EZ Tales Animated Books” and she declared her favorite to be “The Bee, The Bat, and The Bird.”  We watched six stories in total, and while they were short, they were engaging, and perfect for a preschooler’s attention span.

My kindergartener enjoyed working on a creative writing story based in the town of Mooville while using the Elementary Adventures in Writing program.  While he was a bit young for the suggested age range, my 4th grader wasn’t really too interested in writing about farm animals and my younger child happily stepped in.  In his story, the main character, Roosty the Rooster, lost his way at Carters Farm in Mooville.   Roosty became confused when he mistook a rock for a barn and tall grass for his fence.  I suggested that Roosty might need glasses, but my son assured me that no, he was just lost, ha!  He had fun making up his story, and there are numerous creative writing resources and worksheets to help children write their own stories.  My son also really enjoyed the Camping Adventure video found in the Preparing a Preschooler’s Heart section.

My fourteen-year-old daughter loves photography, and she recently even set up an etsy shop to sell some of her nature prints.  Maddy is completely self-taught, so she was more than happy to begin the High School Photography Course that SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers.  She is very motivated to see her work improve.
