Review of Grapevine Studies The Resurrection Student Book

For the past few weeks we’ve been using the Resurrection Beginner Student Book from Grapevine Studies for our Bible study time with my kindergartener.  Oh, how I’ve loved this study!

I had always wanted to see what Grapevine Studies was all about, so I was over-the-moon excited when given the option to review this as a member of The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew.  I chose to use the Beginner Resurrection Study with my kindergartener, since Resurrection Sunday is fast approaching.

The study came both with a student and teacher pack, and after placing Maverick’s things in his binder, we got to work.

The teacher’s guide is thorough and super easy to follow, and we were able to seamlessly complete the lessons.  The Beginner Resurrection Study includes nine lessons in sum.  Students will need either colored pencils, crayons, or a pencil to complete their work.  The teacher will need to have their Bible on hand, along with a dry erase board or chalkboard, and dry erase markers or chalk.

Before instructing my son to draw a corresponding picture , I would read aloud a passage of scripture and talk about what he was to draw.  I would then draw the picture on the chalkboard for him to copy.  He really enjoyed stick figuring through the Bible!  I let him know that he should feel to get creative with his drawings, but I think he really enjoyed just seeing how close he could come to copying the picture on the board “just so.”

(While I’m not a very good artist, I could easily handle drawing stick figures!  I used the chalkboard wall that my husband painted for me with chalkboard paint when instructing my son.)

I was very surprised by how many details my son retained of the Bible Stories!  At the end of each lesson is a “Lesson Review,” which includes a few questions about what was just learned.  We also worked on a memory verse for each lesson.

At the very end of the program is a “Final Review,” and while my son surely didn’t retain everything, he did learn a great deal.

I would like to reiterate just how easy this program was for my family to use.  We received a physical copy of The Resurrection Beginner Student pack, which was an absolutely perfect fit for us.  As a whole, I don’t care for downloads, so I was thrilled that Grapevine Studies offered this option.  The packs came pre-hole punched and ready to slip into your binder.  The teacher sheets were awesome, and so easy to follow.  The most important part about this program in my opinion was that it helped solidify the story of Jesus’ resurrection in my young son’s head.  Kudos to Grapevine Studies!

If you couldn’t already tell, I highly recommend the Resurrection Beginner Student Book by Grapevine Studies.  It has probably been my favorite product to review on The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew to date!  Grapevine Studies offers many different levels for all ages as well, which I think is great.
