Modest Monday + 21 Week Pregnancy Update with Baby # 8

Hey y’all!  A few weeks ago my due date was adjusted slightly, and I’ve been a bit off with my updates.  I’m technically almost 22 weeks along now, but I figured I would just call this 21 weeks and continue with this trend.  I probably will not post pregnancy updates weekly, but we will see!

Yesterday I was in search of a new dress to wear while we take our oldest daughter out to celebrate her sixteenth birthday! (Sniff…)  I’m really not sure if I like this dress or not, but went ahead and bought it since it is so comfortable and was a good price.   It is not maternity, so I just bought a few sizes larger than my usual.  While taking photos, I seriously told my daughter I looked like a tent, ha!  I think I would like this much more if paired with a denim jacket, but it’s too warm for that today.

My three-year-old daughter never fails to bring me wild flowers if we are outdoors.  She is the sweetest!

Dressing for the Lord is not a chore, and I love doing so!  Earlier in the week, my husband thanked me for making some changes in our wardrobe choices almost six years ago.  He sees the way some teenage girls dress, and he said it is such a blessing for him to never have to worry about if our girls are properly covered in public.  Both us and our daughters are worth much ladies, and dressing for our Savior is a precious offering to Him!

How’s my pregnancy going?

Overall, really well.  My legs are beginning to hurt while I lay in bed on my side for awhile, and I usually wake up a few times each night to switch sides.  I also am starting to get really hungry at about 10:30 each night.  I’m tempted to get out of bed and find something to eat, and I few times, I have.

I’m beginning to think ahead to my glucose test.  During my 5th and 7th pregnancies I failed my one hour test and then was asked to take the three hour test.  That test is NO fun, and so I’m trying to make sure my diet isn’t rich in sweets (my fav!) now, so hopefully all will be well.

We’ve decided on a name!  We are now anxiously awaiting the arrival of Mabrey Hannah, and I began to purchase a few personalized items for her.  I have a gorgeous baby blanket set to arrive on Tuesday, and I also bought 3 personalized burp cloths on etsy for $18!

In other news, my fourteen-year-old accidently closed my three-year-old’s fingers in the car door yesterday!  The door was completely closed and her four fingers were inside.  I was sure her fingers would be crushed, but each and every one is absolutely fine…no bruising, swelling, or other indication of the accident is present, and she used them all immediately afterwards.  We are praising God for His great mercy!

Also, this week was a good one because I found out that I am a stage 3 finalist in Love Inspired Historical’s Manuscript Matchmaker contest!  I love writing in my spare (ha!) time, so this was really exciting for me.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great week!

  1. You look lovely! Glad to hear that everything is going well!!

  2. Wow! 8 kids! Hubby and I are about to have our 2nd – we would love 9 kids! We will see how that goes 😉 I clicked over from a link party this morning because I was curious about an update from a woman who’s already given birth several times before. New perspectives are nice! I’m 38 weeks now – hoping to go at any time! 😀 I’ve been taking a supplement (Calcium & magnesium) that has totally cured the side leg ache when I’m in bed. I turning over a million times in the night because that ache was killing me! And then a friend suggested I take the Cal-Mag supplement as it helps with aches & pains, bones and joints. And it’s AMAZING! I don’t take a synthetic version – it’s all organic. IT comes from a line of vitamins that are made with whole, real foods instead of synthetic materials – that makes a huge difference. Anyway, just wanted to let you know maybe that will help your aches too! Hope you have a great day!
