I really don’t even know where to begin.
This morning, as I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed, I came across the news that President Obama is “strongly urging” all public schools to implement transgender bathroom and locker room policies, or they risk losing federal funding.
I’ve literally had tears well up over this, and I homeschool my children.
Recently Target has publically introduced these same policies in their stores. While my spirit grieved for this scenario as well, it’s not quite the same. Target is a private corporation, and as such, has every right to decide their own policies.
The public school system is different. It belongs to “the public.” Supposedly, it belongs to the people of our nation.
Our culture is diseased, y’all. Like it is seriously sick. It has been in a huge moral decline for decades now. Among other things, God will not bless a nation that allows the murder of it’s unborn children.
While Obama has usurped his executive power yet again, we must take note that he has been allowed to do this over and over. This decision will likely stand, despite the fact that the American College of Pediatrics has unilaterally stated that gender confusion in children is harmful.
I’m sitting here, literally at a loss for words. I can almost imagine how the Separatists must have felt before setting off for the New World.
While faced with adversity against their faith, they weren’t satisfied to hang around and try to invoke social change. They didn’t say, “Oh well, let’s stick around and continue to allow our families and children to be indoctrinated.”
While changing our nation for better is always a good thing, in the meantime, we have a responsibility to ensure that the teaching and training of our children is aligned with God’s Word. We have the responsibility to ensure that our children are in a safe place to the best of our ability.
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. (Romans 1:28 NIV)
We cannot believe that the same government which allows the dismemberment of unborn children has the right mindset to teach and train our physical children. It’s just not possible!
The time is now for Christians to take a stand. It is time for us to take our children back.
I have been writing a book about homeschooling, and I would like to share the first chapter with y’all. It’s about our children. It is an unedited, messy first draft, but I am just so incredibly burdened for our kids, that I feel compelled to do so. Our kids are worth so much! We are called to defend the defenseless, and our children fall into this category.
I saw a quote by Israel Wayne this morning which scared me.
“Many Christians will boycott Target over the transgender bathroom issue, but will they ever boycott government schools over the same issue?
I don’t think so. For reasons I don’t begin to understand, most Christians are tenaciously addicted to their government school habit.
I don’t think there is ANYTHING at all the government schools would EVER do that would EVER make most Christians remove their children and pay for their own child’s Christian education. Sad, but true.
80% of Christians are still committed to government schooling…no matter what.”

I pray that Israel Wayne is wrong, but I fear that he is right. We must remember that government schools have an ungodly agenda at their heart, and our children do not belong there.
Believe me when I say that after this passes, another morality problem will occur. And then another, and then another. Our children deserve better.
A sweet reader shared her thoughts on this earlier, and it was spot on. While not all parents are in the position to homeschool, it is time for our churches to stand in the gap. “I know not everyone can homeschool. I get that. We are blessed to be able to homeschool our kids. I feel like the time has come for true Bible believing Pastors to put their foot down and tell these parents to get their kids out of government schools, and for the churches to stand in the gap for those who cannot homeschool!”
Amen to this. The faith community must be willing to step in and help.
