29 and 30 Week Pregnancy Update with Baby #8 + Life Happenings

Oh my, has it been a busy week!  I enjoy writing, and in early March I entered a writing contest with Love Inspired Historical books.  I’ve happily been named a finalist, and my complete manuscript is due in mid-July.  Time has been getting away with me, so I put aside a huge chunk of time over the past week to work on my entry.  Thus the lack of blogging.  I’m happy to say that my first draft is complete, which was exciting to me since I’ve never written a 70,000+ word novel before.  It still needs a lot of work, and I’m not expecting a contract, but it has been a great experience none the less.  It is an Amish Christian Romance novel set in 1920 Montana.

Whenever I’ve had the chance to pull myself out of Amish world, we’ve been working on school work and preparing to leave on a camping trip in a few days.  I’ve been toting loads of clothing and other essentials to our travel trailer, which isn’t easy being so pregnant…and hot!  But my kids and husband have been a huge help, and if I can just make it through our planned trip to a zoo while we’re gone I should be good to go.

I had a regular prenatal appointment a few days ago, and everything is still looking great with Miss Mabrey.  My blood pressure is good, I’ve gained two pounds this month, and baby was active.  I’m nearing the home stretch, and will be stopping by the doctor every two weeks now.  I can hardly wait to meet our newest daughter!

I bought an adorable custom car seat cover off of etsy this week, too.  While I like to sew, I have not the slightest idea of where to start with a car seat cover since I’m completely self-taught, so I purchased one from the same company who made a cover for our 6th child.  I can’t wait for it to arrive.  It’s light pink, beige, and light blue and very girly.

In other news, we’ve been visiting a reformed family-integrated church for one month now, and really enjoy it with the exception of the 1 hour+ drive.  While we have no immediate plans to try anywhere different, I have a huge praise!  About ten years ago, my family attended a Baptist church for several years which was quite the opposite to where we are attending now.  It had tons of children’s programs, was Arminian, etc.  Well, when God opened our eyes to the importance of family discipleship among other things, we left.  This week my husband discovered that the youth minister of this church is now the Pastor of a church that by all appearances is reformed and very possibly family integrated!  Praise God!  Isn’t it amazing how the Lord works?  It’s only thirty minutes from home, so we might possibly give it a try.

I hope y’all have a blessed week!
