Hello, and welcome!

My name is Nicole, and I hope that this site is an encouragement to you!  I am a homeschooling momma to eight amazing kids.  I’m also an essential oil enthusiast, and am certified in French Medicinal Aromatherapy through The School for Aromatic Studies.  (I love to blog about oils over at The Essential Mom.)

Among other things, I am passionate about gospel-centered, biblical family discipleship.  My greatest desire is to share the absolute joy and blessing that motherhood brings.   Being a wife and mother is an incredible calling.  Regardless of your circumstances in life, if you are expecting, God has called you to be a mother.   Hopefully when you read from this site you will become refreshed and desire to serve your family at home.

Do you know how The Lord often calls the weak to serve in His kingdom?  Yep, I’m pretty sure He was talking about me.  Without Christ, I am nothing, and anything good in my life was brought forth by Him.  Although I still have so much to learn myself about raising a family for God’s glory, I hope that this blog, in a sense, offers Titus 2 encouragement.

The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—  that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,  to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

Titus 2:3-5

While I’m by no means an old woman, (I’m 36),my heart is to share pertaining these things.  I know that I will learn so much from you also!  Our focus in the home should be to compliment our husband’s biblical leadership, to build a home for God’s glory, and to raise children with a heart for God.  As it has been said before, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

I also hope to share information about birth control from a biblical viewpoint, as well as helps to young mothers who face an unplanned pregnancy.  I was a teen mother myself, and would love to share with you.

On a more personal level, I love anything girly or vintage, and decorating and reading are a few of my favorite activities.  I can’t cook to save my life. (Well, maybe I’m not that bad, but in my opinion, I definitely lack culinary skills.  Ask my husband.  The first time that I made meatloaf, I cooked the beef before forming it into a loaf.  Yeah, that bad.)  I adore watching reruns of Bringing Up Bates and most HGTV shows.  I love to go camping with my family…or, it probably would be more accurate to say that I go “glamping” with my family, because I am quite a city girl at heart.  Mountains soothe my soul, and our conure Mango is my favorite pet ever. I hold an Associates Degree in Public Service with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and I also have completed Masters coursework in Early Childhood Education.

I’m a sinner who’s been saved by grace and am the mother to seven precious children on this earth, and two in Heaven whom we lost through miscarriage.  Jesus Christ is my Lord, and I am but His humble servant.  What a joy, and an honor it is to serve Him!

My family and I are Christ followers, and we hold to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

I live with my husband and children in the beautiful rolling hills of northwest Georgia.  We are a homeschooling family, and absolutely love it!

Grace Family Baptist Church

(Pastor of Preaching Voddie Baucham)

Voddie Baucham wears many hats.  He is a husband, father, pastor,  author, professor, conference speaker and church planter.  He currently  serves as Pastor of Preaching at Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring,  TX.  He has served as an adjunct professor at the College of Biblical  Studies in Houston, TX, and Union University in Jackson, TN.  He has  also lectured at Southern Seminary.

Voddie makes the Bible clear and demonstrates the relevance of God’s  word to everyday life.  However, he does so without compromising the  centrality of Christ and the gospel.  Those who hear him preach find  themselves both challenged and encouraged.

Voddie’s area of emphasis is Cultural Apologetics.  Whether teaching  on classical apologetic issues like the validity and historicity of the  Bible, or the resurrection of Christ; or teaching on biblical  manhood/womanhood, marriage and family, he helps ordinary people  understand the significance of thinking and living biblically in every  area of life.

It is impossible to understand Voddie’s approach to the Bible without  first understanding the path he has walked.  Raised in a non-Christian,  single-parent home, Voddie did not hear the gospel until he was in  college.  His journey to faith was a very unusual and intellectual one.   Consequently, he understands what it means to be a skeptic, and knows  what it’s like to try to figure out the Christian life without relying  on the traditions of men.  As a result, he speaks to ‘outsiders’ in ways  few Bible teachers can.

Voddie Baucham holds degrees from Houston Baptist University (BA in  Christianity/BA in Sociology), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary  (M.Div.), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.), an  honorary degree from Southern California Seminary (D.D.), and additional  post-graduate study at the University of Oxford, England (Regent’s Park  College).

Voddie and his wife, Bridget have been married since 1989.  They have  eight children, Jasmine, Trey (Voddie, III), Elijah, Asher, Judah,  Micah, Safya and Amos.  They are committed home educators.

Countryside Bible Church

(Pastor-teacher Tom Pennington)

Tom Pennington has served as Pastor-Teacher at Countryside Bible Church since October 2003. Prior to arriving in Texas, he served 16 years at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, including as an elder. He spent his last four years there as Senior Associate Pastor and as personal assistant to John MacArthur. Prior to that, he served as Managing Director of Grace to You, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the international radio, tape, publications, and internet ministry. Tom completed his B.A. and M.A. at Bob Jones University and served as a member of the faculty while taking additional Ph.D. classes in New Testament Interpretation.  In 2013, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity (D.D.) from The Master’s College.

    Hi Nicole,
I came across your website via facebook. I am a Catholic mother of six and have never met an evangelical who didn’t practice birth control. I don’t understand why churches don’t preach the beautiful truth of God’s plan for our sexuality. I am so grateful for the writings of Pope Paul VI who in 1968 stated in Humane Vitae that contraception would introduce grave immorality, the degradation of women and the breakdown of the family. Oh, that more Christians would have listened. And Pope John Paul II’s writings further reinforced that Love and Responsibility go hand in hand. Can you tell me how I can order the Birth Control movie from Cananda? I would love to spread it around. Thank you and keep up God’s work, you have a lovely family.

Hello Kelly! I do not understand why churches do not preach the truth about birth control either. I’m honestly am not sure about shipping to Canada since I really have no affiliation to The Birth Control Movie. I did just visit their site and it looks like you can now view it online! Blessings to you and your family!

      • Dear Nicole,

What’s the birth control movie? I too agree that God’s plan for us meant no birth control- not only does it harm our bodies, we and unmarried people should be able to control ourselves! I think this blog is great, an I finally have a famly to relate to!

        • Found it! And I absolutely adore your “Homeschooling rules” hair bows, and really, everything in general! I’ll have to order something for my daughters sometime!

          God bless!

Hello Nicole. I found your blog from the Headcovering Movement today. I have also already started following you on Pinterest. So far, I think our beliefs are very similar as are our daily battles. 🙂 I only have 1 little girl but we are raising her up to be fear the Lord and be modest in her apparel. I have studied the head covering on and off again for over 3 years and finally this last October I began covering full time. I am all about women being beautiful and I don’t let that stop me from dressing modestly or on covering my head. My testimony was actually published on the Head Covering Movement a couple of weeks ago. 🙂 All of this to say I am excited to follow your blog and look forward to growing in Christ with you all. Have a blessed week! 🙂

  7. Hi Nicole… I posted a link to my blog on your “For this child I prayed” section. Like you I have 6 children, mine are 16,13,12,6,4,3. I have 4 boys and 2 girls though… the opposite of you. I also wrote a post about our journey with modesty… http://everevolvingeve.blogspot.com/2014/01/2013-part-4-attire.html We began homeschooling in 2011 and are loving every minute of it(well… at least most of them). Your blog has been an encouragement. Thank you and God Bless.

  8. Great site! I am really enjoying your posts. I homeschool my only child and find your articles to be in line with my beliefs. I am from Chatsworth, GA and it is so nice to see others from my area in Northwest Georgia with the same values. Thanks for all you are doing.

  9. Oh, Nicole! I just love the sweet spirit I have found here! I love your stand for modesty and holiness. It is so refreshing to find you…I am so thankful I clicked on your link on Sarah’s link-up! God bless you and your sweet family. 🙂

  10. We love Voddie, too! Lots of good info! 🙂

  11. I came across your blog today and wanted to say hello. It is so encouraging to read about mothers who are raising children to be people of good character and keeping religion alive in our world today. I am Christian but of a different church than you. Reading about the importance of children reminded me of The Family: A Proclamation To The World. It is a document which my church put out 20 years ago on the sanctity of the family and was sent to world leaders asking them to focus policies on strengthening families as the base of our society. Have a read here: https://www.lds.org/topics/family-proclamation?lang=eng I look forward to reading more from you.
