Motherhood and Holiness – Ministry Monday

Motherhood and holiness are two words that are normally not found within the same sentence.

Parenting is hard, sanctifying work.  It can bring out the worst in us at times.

And yet, if we are mothers, we are called to this work.  The Lord has asked us to minister to our children by being holy by His grace.

For it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:16

Holiness means to be set apart.  To be different.  If we are Christ followers, our homes are going to look vastly different from the rest of the world.

Today I shared a quick video on YouTube about Motherhood and Holiness.  Going against the grain is tough, but if we rely on the Lord to guide our paths He can use us to bring our children to Him.

We should be asking ourselves daily, “Am I living a life that is set apart for the Lord?”  Our children learn by example to a large extent.  They watch what we do, and follow suit.  While the Lord looks at the heart, a home that is striving to be holy will look different than the rest of the world.  Our affections will be different, and our lives will mirror that.

Above all else, we must remember that our holiness is found in Christ alone.  A.W. Tozer once wrote,”We must hide our unholiness in the wounds of Christ as Moses hid himself in the cleft of the rock while the glory of God passed by. We must take refuge from God in God. Above all we must believe that God sees us perfect in His Son while He disciplines and chastens and purges us that we may be partakers of His holiness” (The Knowledge of the Holy, 107).

Our holiness is found hidden in Christ.  Embrace this fact as you go about your day.  He can and will equip you for every good work!

  1. Nicole, You are so right that our homes should look different if we are serving Christ. Sometimes my kids will say, “But mom, everyone …” I say, “We are not everyone. We are different because we are serving Christ.” First time visiting. Blessings on your blog and endeavors.
